With full time work again, things have been slowing, but I've made it a goal to at least doodle one thing a day. Today is the first time I picked up my tablet again and I'm super happy with how it works~ I will have full art pieces soon, promise!

Time to get serious!

I decided it was high time I invested into taking a step forward in my art, take it up a notch. Not to mention my bamboo I've had for over 8 years, and my hand-eye coordination on it never was very good. Having a screen already had made a huge difference, regardless of my practice (though I do need more!) I'm stupidly excited about my new tablet and I hope that means I can upload new works soon; fanart and OC alike! Needless to say; I'm back, baby! I hope you all are hanging on during this pandemic. I'll be back to work soon, we're just waiting on the province to give the go ahead for stage 3 reopening. My job misses me which is pretty fantastic. Honestly I missed them too. I can't wait to get back to work and in a safe environment. I'm really proud of how they've handled things there. please update me on your lives! I've been gone too long and those who are still here; I hope to hear how you've been faring! (I need to clean out my gallery cause YEESH.)

6 years later I'm back and hoping to get my artistic inspiration back again.
Now let's see if I remember how to Deviantart...
I'll make a more meaningful upsate hopefully soon. Not a whole lot to touch on?
I've moved away from Nova Scotia and have been living in Toronto for over 4 years now. I've become completely independant and work a 4 star Italian Restaurant making fresh pasta. The money is good and I'm essentially my own boss at this point... I make my own schedule, ask for a raise when I feel like I deserve one, take time off as I need.... just have to work extra hard before I leave to stock the restaurant. Has it's frustrations but it's pretty great to be honest.
Let's see what I can do. Time to Get Motivated!

AN and Changes. Lots of changes

Hey All! It's been something close to a month since I updated (which is a feat in itself the past couple of years) but I thought I would update everyone on what's going on and so forth.
Anime North was Awesome as always. There were snags here and there, but had nothing to do with the convention. Airline raping my wallet a ticket price difference and a $75.00 extra fee last minute kinda sucked when I had to come home earlier than expected and in turn cut back my spending money for the weekend, but I survived with what I had thankfully <3
Hotel was a piss off to put bluntly. After being re-assured three times that the damage deposit was only $50.00 a day, I arrive and I'm being told by the front desk agent it was an atrocious $250.00 PER DAY. I almost lost it! I received a call back in March in regards to this sudden staggering number for a damage deposit and called them when i finally found the mentality about a week later to ask them what in God's name were they thinking? They seemed shocked that I received such a call and assured me it was only $50.00 a day, and were nice enough to write this on my file. Three times checking apparently did nothing as I argued with Edwin in the lobby about this. BLOOD. WAS. BOILING. Eventually the jerk said he would honor the $50.00 per day only because I had stayed two years in a row, but that wasn't the end of it. The jerk never gave me back my change and again I asked for it three times. We were splitting the room 4 ways so we wanted each of us to pay the exact same amount, but he basically took all of the money I gave him and put it straight towards the room entirely. It was only 8 bucks or something like that, but still I was pretty mad. Then to go up to the room and find I was downgraded, but it also reflected the price difference as the room was old, but was cheaper. As long as it was clean it was fine.
Yeah. it wasn't very clean either. I work in a hotel and I was disgusted to the point that shortly after I got home I wrote a LENGTHY letter to the general manager and received a reply in less than 24 hours. I only received illegitimate excuses for the poorness, but was promised to be taken care of properly next year since I'm a priority club member, work in a hotel, yadda yadda. I did receive the apology I was looking for, but I wanted answers, no excuses. I'm not petty enough to be demanding a refund or discount even though it was far less than what I imagined, but wanted to voice my general concerns and get those two things. 1 of 2 isn't bad.
Anyways! The convention! You know, FUN THINGS. HAPPY THINGS.
Shortly after checking in, I got on skype to find out where my precious RiRi was as she was supposed to meet us in the lobby. Scared to death she'd gotten lost in the city seeing as she's not even from the same country I logged on and found her online, found out she was downstairs. And I met my RiRi IRL for the first time. HNNNNNG. Y you so adorable, RiaLangset!?!?
Majinboo0111 and Overshadowed we met on the way back since they had to go and grab the remainder of our luggage and pick up two other friends of her brothers (who I don't think have deviantart) and we all hung out in our room for a while whilst discussing weekend fun-ness and so on.
Went to the Artists Alley which is one of the main things I love about the convention, and found amaiTapioca's table, where we did something of a gift art trade. BAW. <3 She's such a cutie! I visited her table several times over the weekend just to see how she was faring, buy a print or two from her and commissioned her friends (Omg Buff Midnight LOLOLOLOL I laughed but it's so glorious I CAN'T EVEN
) Rainie's birthday was recently as well, and we found out we PRACTICALLY have the same birthday. YEEGAD.
Speaking of birthday's, thank you to my friends for the birthday wishes! I didn't do much to celebrate this year. In fact, I worked. To sum up presents I got from my mom, I'll just copy and paste the post I put on facebook.
"I think this birthday is proving that in the years, I've both grown up considerably, and yet I'll always be a child at heart. 5 Years ago I would have found it hard to get excited about a new set of pots and pans and yet I feel like I hit a jackpot.
21 years ago I hung up on Santa Claus on the radio after telling him I wanted an 'ice cweam maker' as I didn't know what to say, and today I find one sitting on the kitchen table.
OH MY GOD, YES."
Yes. My mother got me a set of non stick Teflon pots and pans and I was giddy beyond all doubt. On top of this, I also got an ice cream maker I plan to use and abuse all summer long. First batch I'll make will likely be a simple vanilla bean (I learned so much just by researching how to make ice cream!) and plan to make something for each season/holiday. Pumpkin pie spice at Halloween, and Eggnog or peppermint sticks at Christmas? Better believe it!
I was violently sick just before my birthday as well. Sadly bad enough that I found myself in the emergency room at 6:30am in the morning one morning due to a scare involving blood. Thank god it turned out to be nothing (at least they couldn't find anything wrong with me) and I spend three days recovering and mostly sleeping to try and find off whatever bug I managed to catch. Something like a flu it seems like. But here I am!
Work got me a birthday card. It was nice of my coworkers to do something like that when I've specifically have gone out of my way to REMOVE my name from the birthday list (lol). I got lots of birthday wishes (WAY TOO MANY MY GOD) and some of my guildies on Mabinogi got me a few things I had been eying. Aside from that, Xilicia and her fiancé got me a keurig coffee maker which scratched something off of my Christmas wishlist and will make me a VERY happy Tag every morning I make myself a cup. Delicious coffee! I've been wanting one a while now, and was shocked to show up at her place this weekend to find this waiting for me! You guys all spoil me way too much, but I love you just the same!
So on that note, I also visited Xilicia this weekend as we hardly ever get to see each other anymore, and we were going Bridesmaid dress shopping, cause as I mentioned before, the lovely lady has finally gotten engaged to her boyfriend of over 5 years now. I am honored you asked me to be your Maid of Honor, and you knew I would in a heartbeat. Hopefully I can help you plan more than just make the cute chocolates for your wedding. The first night there, we simply went out for dinner then hit up a frozen yogurt 'serve yourself' shop because hey! Frozen yogurt is healthy! However by the time we got to the topping station the health factor was kind of disregarded because it was covered in many candy coatings, sprinkles, sauces and sugary goodness. I think we did something wrong. Oh well, it was delicious just the same. We stayed up late watching youtube videos and simply catching up.
The next morning after a bowl of cereal we hot the road and picked up the other two bridesmaids plus one of the bridesmaid's babies and went to look for wedding dresses. This baby by the way is the most quiet, sweet, well behaved baby I've EVER seen! Such a happy baby too! Omg such a sweetheart! Anyways, the first place we hit up we found out quickly none of us wanted a satin dress, but we all found styles we liked and agreed on ALMOST everything, making it easy for us all to mix and match dresses together to what we like. Each of us are going to wear a different dress, but each of them have to match each other. We're doing that because there will also be a jr bridesmaid, so she would stick out like a sore thumb, and all of us are different body shapes and so on. So this just makes sense! And it's fun! We went out for Lunch at a buffet Chinese place (it was okay, nothing amazing, but okay! Especially for the price!) and headed down to Sears where we picked everything apart and pretty much just acted silly. There was SO MUCH that looked plain ridiculous in terms of styles and clothing, and at one point we were determined to wear green checkered pants and bathing suits for the wedding. LOL. (jokingly of course). We headed down to one other shop to see what they had, but us bridesmaids didn't really see much that caught our interest. On the plus note, Xil tried on some wedding gowns and found her dress. It was 40% off too, making it a deal. Sadly, Xil is moving to Ontario and we won't get to do this again before her wedding.
After getting back to her place, we watched Warm Hearts (which was actually a good movie in my opinion! ZOMBIE LOVE LOL. It was both touching and funny at the same time, though from someone whose played zombie games many a time, the ending made me go 'HOW IN THE ACTUAL HECK' but I like happy endings so what can I say?) And Oz and Great and Powerful, also a good movie! No tin men references though. Sad.
This morning we got up and talked for a bit, browsed youtube again and watched The Guilt Trip which was quite funny, and had a lot of elements in it. Nice little additions near the end of the story. It felt like a long movie as there seemed to be several mini plots in it that would open and close, but was still pretty decent. Not a favorite, but still nice. Sadly I had to hit the road as I expected to do much more today than I did and said goodbye to Xil for the next time before I see her in a year. On the way home there was some fun detours cause I felt like exploring and managed to get some nice things. Once I returned, it was mega grocery shopping time… why?
Cause the biggest news so far is that I MOVED.
Yes, Tag has finally moved out of her parents house and is now sharing an apartment with SSW and her husband! I moved in on Friday and we're pretty much settled in now. Still some things I left behind at my parents house, but none the less still have a new place to call home. It's closer to my workplace and in a new province, but it's okay! I'm quite happy so far here! I go back to work the day after tomorrow. Blah.
Hopefully I'll be back with new art. I've been writing again, so art will hopefully be coming now that I have a new atmosphere and new inspiration. Just need to get my scanner over here and actually get my pencil to paper. Woohoo!
Anyways, that's what's new and exciting for me. Sorry for the long winded journal! I'm excited about all of the new changes, and want to hear from you! How is summer treating you!? What are your summer plans?
